Records Section

The Records Section is a the contact point for any Open Records requests. Certain records at the department concerning crimes and arrests are considered open records by Oklahoma Statute. These records are available to obtain upon request. If you would like to inquire about a record or file, you may contact the Records Section and request the record at (580) 581-3233. If the record is covered by the Open Records Act, your request will be granted. If you are needing a copy of a report you generated, you may come to the station and receive a copy of this report. Business hours for our records section are: Monday -Friday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm; and Saturdays from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. The records window is closed on Sundays.

At the window, citizens may request copies of offenses, accidents, background checks, etc.

The cost for these copies varies from:

• $1.00 per report for individuals
• $5.00 per report for commercial purposes

The Department has a full-time Statistician that compiles offense and arrest reports and reports them monthly based on UCR reporting guidelines; who is also responsible for purchasing items throughout the department.

Property/Evidence Section

The Technical Services Division also includes The Property and Evidence Section. This includes property that is collected as evidence in a crime or found property.

You may reclaim your property Tuesday and Thursday afternoons by appointment only. If you are trying to retrieve a weapon please call prior for the process.

Personal and found property will be held for 90 days and then submitted for destruction.

Operations

The Corrections Manager, Brandy Kirkpatrick-Benton, is responsible for the daily operations of the Lawton Municipal Jail.

The City of Lawton Municipal Jail maintains a goal of security and safety for all inmates housed and staff employed within our facility.

The City of Lawton Municipal Jail operates in accordance with Oklahoma State Standards through the Oklahoma Department of Health, Domiciliary Facilities Services and Jail Inspection Division.

If an inmate is eligible for bond, or you wish to pay on an inmate’s fines, you can do so at the City of Lawton Municipal Court located at 100 South Railroad Street, Lawton Oklahoma. You can reach the Lawton Municipal Court at (580) 581-3265, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After hours bonds and fines can also be paid at the City of Lawton Municipal Jail. However, after hours bonds and fines are **cash only and for the exact amount necessary. You can reach the Lawton Municipal Jail after hours at (580) 581-3275.

Permitted Inmate Items

The following items are permitted for inmates to possess while in our facility:

• Underarm Deodorant (must be clear and in a transparent container)
• Shampoo / Body Wash (must be clear and in transparent container)
• Stamps
• (10) Standard Envelopes
• (10) Standard Sheets of Paper
• (3) Paperback Books or Magazines (No Pornographic Material)
• (2) Pairs of socks- White in color
• (2) Pairs of underwear – White in color
• (2) Bras – White in color – No underwire
• (2) T-shirts – plain white t-shirt with not graphics or writing. No muscle shirts / tank tops
• (1) Towel – White in color
• (1) Wash cloth – White in color
• (1) Sealed deck of playing cards

Medications can be delivered at any time. All medications must be in their prescribed containers. Medication may not be expired.

**All items (including laundry) must have their name printed on it for identification.

**All laundry items may only be delivered once. Clothing, towels and wash cloths will be cleaned during the inmate’s residency.

Visitation for Inmates

In-person visitation for inmates is suspended at this time.

Inmate video and telecommunication visitation is suspended at 11 p.m. and resumes at 7 a.m.
