How to apply for an assembly permit to have an event held on City property or the street areas, i.e., at a City Park, Festival, Walk/Run, Parade and/or Street Fair
Obtaining a Permit
If wanting to hold a specific event on City Property to include all City parks and special tournaments and events at the ball parks, outside of City Buildings, and/or a Street area you must first obtain an permit at the Parks and Recreation Department, 1405 SW 11th Street in Lawton at the Owens Multipurpose Center. Come to the front desk and an administrative assistant will assist in the permit procedure needed for your event.
Events permits are required for any group of twenty-five (25) or more people that shall use an street, alley, public way, park, or any other property owned or controlled by the city. Event permits may include festivals, walk/run competitions, parades or street fairs, or military recognition ceremonies.
Assembly permits are required to be filed no less than two (2) hours prior to the gathering and include the following information; location, name of all streets/parks/public locations that may be affected, date, and approximate timeframe. Assembly permits may include Indigenous Peoples Day demonstration at City hall and Marie Detty's purple ribbon tying down Gore Blvd for domestic violence awareness month.
Note: When submitting an permit packet for a park pavilion/area rental, submit the permit at a minimum of 30 days prior to the event as required by City policy. Also, fees will be applied to all events depending on activities cited and city services provided. A detailed site map is needed of your event to better assist you for your event. For safety and liability purposes some events may required a Certificate of Liability Insurance for your event.
