LAKE ELLSWORTH

The lake covers approximately 5,600 acres and has around 43 miles of shoreline, making it larger than nearby Lake Lawtonka. Lake Ellsworth was created in the 1960s by damming East Cache Creek to provide a water supply for the city of Lawton and surrounding areas. It continues to play an essential role in supplying water to the region.

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Boating: The lake is popular for boating, however, due to tree structure in the lake and shallow coves, high speed recreational boating is not recommended.  Multiple boat ramps can be found around Lake Ellsworth.

  • Camping: There are campgrounds and RV parks located around the lake, offering both primitive and modern camping options for visitors. 
  • Swimming and Picnicking: The lake has designated swimming areas, as well as numerous picnic spots, making it a great destination for families and casual outings.
  • Hunting and Wildlife Viewing: The area around Lake Ellsworth is also utilized for various hunting activities, and visitors can observe local wildlife in the surrounding habitats.
