Bulky Waste Set-Out Guide

Only set out large items such as furniture that are too big to fit into your poly cart. Please do not set out bagged trash or loose & scattered debris. Place these items in your poly cart for disposal. The only bagged waste eligible for collection as bulky waste is yard waste. Please adhere to the bulky waste set out guide as additional charges may be applied for collection or abatement of noncompliant items set out as bulky waste.

Our operators place the orange tags on carts to notify the customer that they are having an issue servicing your cart. Common problems include:

• Cart overfull - the cart should have all trash inside the cart and lid able to close
• Cart in unsafe place - carts should be placed a minimum of 5 feet away from all objects to include vehicles, mailboxes, fences, trees, and other utilities.

Our operators place the green door knob hangers to notify the customer that they are having an issue collecting your trash that was set out as bulky waste. Common problems include:

• wrong type of waste material set out
• loose and scattered debris
• bulky waste placed too close to an obstacle like a parked car or mailbox
• bulky waste placed under power lines or overhanging trees
• bulky waste set out at the curb on the wrong week or set out too late
• too much waste set out

Please adhere to the Bulky Waste Set-Out Guide as additional charges may be applied for collection or abatement of noncompliant items set out as bulky waste.

Yes, additional carts can be leased for $6.10 per month for a minimum of 12 months. Citizens with more than one cart should allow at least 5 feet between them on days of pick up.

Solid Waste Collection offers house side pickup for disabled residents, meaning that those that qualify for this service do not have to place poly carts at the curb. Solid Waste Collection employees will instead collect the resident’s garbage from the side or front of their home and return it to the same spot after dumping.

Those with qualifying disabilities and no able-bodied household member will incur no additional cost for house side collection. The completed application must be submitted to:

House Side Application

Carts should be placed in the street, at your curbside and have at least 5 feet clearance of any obstructions on all sides (this still applies if you have two carts). The wheels should be facing the curb.

The City of Lawton has a partnership with the third party recycling company Recyclops. Citizens can sign up for curbside recycling pickup with Recyclops.

Civilian citizens can also utilize the City of Lawton's neighbors and community partners at Fort Sill MWR, which manages a nearby Recycle Center located on Fort Sill. More information on the center can be found by calling 580.442.5712 or online at Fort Sill Recycle Center.
